- the scene is in the middle of the night and it is dark so you are expecting something to happen
- the title of the film tells you something bad is going to happen at one point
- she is filmed from above to make her look weak
- she is also filmed from behind to make it look like she is being followed
- she is looking at things by candle light which creates shadows so you don't have a clear view of what is around her
